The Poisons Act 1972 (Explosives Precursers) (Amendment) Regulation 2018 make it illegal to supply a dry battery with acid pack to private individuals without a valid Poisons Licence (EPP Licence) Therefore all classic batteries supplied within the UK will be shipped dry WITHOUT acid.

Lincon Batteries is a long established company which has been in the battery business since 1908. Lead Acid Batteries have been made by Lincon in the Southend-on-Sea area for well over 60 years, from the old glass jar varieties found in valve radios in the 1930s to the latest cold start performance polypropylene batteries commonly found today.
Owing to the legislation below, we can no longer supply a dry battery with a separate acid pack to consumers unless that consumer can produce an EPP (Explosives Precursor and Poisons) Licence in person at one of our Battery Centres. This will make it almost impossible for us to legally supply a dry battery and acid pack to someone that has ordered a motorcycle combi-pack or a dry charged classic car battery online.
NOTE: As the new legislation does not affect business sales, we are still able to supply batteries with acid packs on receipt of a written order on Company headed paper.
All dry batteries ( hard rubber "classic car" batteries, etc) will have to be filled and charged at a third-party location.
On 3 April 2018, the Poisons Act 1972 (Explosives Precursors Amendment) Regulations 2018 were introduced to make sulphuric acid a regulated explosives precursor. Offences relating to the acquisition, importation and supply of sulphuric acid above 15% weight by weight & Offences relating to the possession and use of sulphuric acid above 15% weight by weight are now in effect.
We will supply the battery in one of the following ways:
1. Supplied dry and the receiver will need to take the dry battery to the nearest location that is able to fill and charge the battery. Note: A Third Party may make a charge for this service
2. Filled and Charged at one of Shield’s Battery Centres for collection (Bishops Stortford/Yeovil/Poole/Leicester/North West-Leigh/Lincon Batteries-Leigh on Sea Essex)
